Publicity in 2025
For some unexplained reason, this year we were involved in quite a bit of publicity for the event.
Spartans Featuring on The House of Wellness
Spartan Legends John Dobson S0021 and David Foskey S0025 (Wayne Thompson S0078 was unavailable) feature on Channel 7 program “The House of Wellness”. John and David were supported by Bryan Flegg S0115, Phil Urquhart S1217 and Jim Yatomi-Clarke S0530. The program, hosted by Melissa Doyle and Shane Crawford, was shown on Channel 7 at 9:30pm Wednesday October 8. It is now available for streaming on 7Plus as episode 3 of season 10.
The plot sees Shane Crawford attempting to win a Spartan singlet by beating John and David in a race. Phil and Jim are also in the race, but Bryan provides some unconventional support to his buddies. The result cannot be revealed here.

Television News Appearances
We were each interviewed by Channel 7 News on the morning of the day before the marathon. Despite John and Wayne making considerable efforts to arrive before 9am, only David had a sentence or two shown on the evening news.Wayne had more luck after the marathon with a short interview on the Channel 9 news.

Radio Interview
David was briefly interviewed by Brigitte Duclos on 774 ABC Radio Melbourne Tuesday before the marathon.
Wayne Thompson Podcast
Wayne Thompson speaks about marathon running: “I ran 65 marathons, a business, and much more.” Wayne is very serious about his running, and ranks very highly in his age group. The podcast is long but covers a lot of ground in Wayne’s life. It is worthwhile looking at the text to see where to dip into it if the length is scary.
Great Running Events
Mid-year, John Dobson and David Foskey were asked to do phone interviews on our Melbourne marathon experiences for a book. We duly did the interviews with author James Knight. James has extensive experience as a sports journalist, including travelling with the Australian Test team, and previous books include biographies of Mark Waugh and Brett Lee. He has promised to have a coffee with us when he is next in Melbourne.
The book is now available and reviewed here.
